What does the patent protect?
The method extends an existing AMI system to reduce electricity losses in 0.4 kV networks. From meter data and a network model built from its diagram, line lengths and conductor parameters, it makes it possible to:
- detect uncontrolled consumption and show where on the diagram it is connected;
- identify which phases consumers are connected to;
- control technically justified losses, taking into account that conductor resistance depends on ambient temperature and the current flowing;
- control currents and voltages of all network elements.
The method needs no instruments in the network beyond the AMI meters already installed.

How does it relate to GRID-IN today?
GRID-IN has grown since then: methods that need no network diagram, event and billing analysis, balance group checks, and merging the findings of all methods into a single field inspection target list. The network calculation from the diagram is one of the GRID-IN methods and partly coincides with the patented method.
